Infrastructure that scales
quietly in the background.
The backend is where most projects go wrong. We design systems that handle the load you have today and the load you'll have in 18 months — without over-engineering for a scale that may never come.
/ what's included
What we cover.
- RESTful and GraphQL API design
- Serverless and containerized architectures (ECS Fargate, Lambda)
- AWS, GCP, and Azure infrastructure
- Event-driven systems and message queues
- Database architecture and query optimization
- Monitoring, alerting, and incident response setup
/ deliverables
What you leave with.
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform / CDK)
- Deployment runbooks
- Architecture documentation
- Runbook for on-call handoff
/ process
How we approach it.
System audit or greenfield design
For existing systems: we assess what you have, find the load paths and failure modes, and produce a written plan. For greenfield: we design the full system before writing infrastructure code.
Infrastructure as code
Everything is Terraform or CDK — no click-ops. All infrastructure is version-controlled, reviewable, and reproducible. What you deploy today is what you can redeploy tomorrow.
Build & deploy
API layers, data pipelines, event-driven services, and the network topology to connect them. CI/CD from the first commit — not wired up at the end as an afterthought.
Observability
Logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting thresholds. You can't operate what you can't see. We don't ship without monitoring in place.
Handoff
Runbooks, architecture documentation, and on-call setup so your team can operate it without us on speed dial.
/ stack
Tools we reach for in cloud / backend engagements.
/ fit
Right fit.
This engagement works well when…
- Your current infrastructure is failing under load or becoming unmaintainable
- You need a backend built to production standards from the start
- You're a team of product engineers who need infrastructure expertise, not a full DevOps hire
Might not be the right fit if…
- You need a complete product including frontend — that's a web or mobile app engagement
- You're looking for managed hosting help with an off-the-shelf platform — that's not what we do
/ faq
Common questions.
AWS, GCP, or Azure — which should I use?+
We work with all three. AWS is the default for most greenfield projects — deepest service catalog, largest community. GCP if you're using BigQuery or Vertex AI. Azure if you're already in the Microsoft ecosystem. The right answer depends on your workload, team familiarity, and existing vendor relationships.
What's the difference between serverless and containerized?+
Serverless (Lambda, Cloud Run) scales to zero and is great for sporadic or event-driven workloads. Containers (ECS Fargate, Kubernetes) give you more control over runtime and are better for long-running or latency-sensitive services. Most real systems use both.
Can you help us migrate from a monolith to microservices?+
Yes, though we'll be honest: most monoliths don't need to become microservices. We'll audit the problem first and recommend the smallest change that solves it. Sometimes that's extracting one or two services. Sometimes it's improving the monolith.
How do you handle database migrations in production?+
Carefully. Reversible migrations, blue/green deploys, and feature flags to decouple schema changes from code deployments. No 2am database surgery.
Do you do security and compliance work?+
Yes. SOC 2 preparation, encryption at rest and in transit, IAM policy audits, network segmentation. We can work alongside your compliance team or lead it.
What do we own when the engagement ends?+
Everything. Infrastructure as code, architecture documentation, runbooks, and all production access credentials transferred to you. We help transition on-call responsibility before closing out.
